EIDSVOLL: Major international players are involved in plans to transform the building into a data center.

After standing still for over a year, Stensbyvegen 22 is now set to become Norway's new technology hub.

The site has been dormant for the past year, and many have wondered what's happening. Now the mystery is solved.

The property at Stensbyvegen 22 will become home to BorealCore Omniverse Campus and Fjord Data Nexus AS, a groundbreaking technology project.

Omniverse enables building, exploring, and collaborating in virtual 3D environments in real-time – almost like a digital university or workplace. Now this becomes physical.

Dispensation for Data Center

Eidsvoll municipality confirms that the project owner recently received dispensation from the municipal plan for repurposing parts of the building, with a requirement that a future zoning plan be prepared within six years.

Until now, the site has been used for a hotel named Eidsvoll Express Hotel. The hotel is closed for renovation, and the building is being prepared for its new role.

"We have chosen Stensbyvegen 22 because of its strategic location near Gardermoen, providing easy access to international connections," says Gurpreet Singh Randhawa, administrative contact for Stensby.

From Closed Hospital and Express Hotel to Arena for Technology and Learning

The property has a rich history spanning several decades. Now the site will get new life as a modern platform for education and innovation in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and simulation.

"The campus will be an international learning environment with a multidisciplinary focus," explains Randhawa.

"Students will have access to NVIDIA Omniverse, which enables real-time collaboration and development of advanced 3D content."

Technology with Sustainability in Focus

The project focuses on zero-emission strategies, energy-efficient cooling systems, and renewable energy such as solar and wind.

Randhawa explains that AI Factory, which will also have space in the building, will be a sustainable technology partner using BorealCore, Fjord Data Nexus AS, and NVIDIA to deliver high performance with low environmental impact.

"This is not just a technology center, but a sustainable future project. The goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to a minimum in line with Eidsvoll municipality's energy and climate plan," says Randhawa.
